Cold , wet and windy but a great day for these brave girls!
77 year 7 and 8 girls from Pukekohe Intermediate went to the Bruce Pullman netball centre in Papakura, for a fun day of competitions.
Each team played four games and these are the places. Pukekohe Pink came 3rd, Mystics came 5th, All Stars came 2nd, Quicksilver came 5th, Verse People came 3rd, Zinga Burger came 4th, Kiwis came 6th, Pinters came 4th and the Golden Bolts came 2nd.
A year 7 captain said what they thought about the day.
Danelle Cox who was the captain of the Mystics said, “It was a very cold day but everyone played at there best!”
Computers Galore
eMac computers are being used every day in this school classroom.
Pukekohe Intermediate have a new purpose built digital classroom. The room houses 16 computers, with a cap of 30 students. The ratio is 1:2.
The purpose of the classroom
Was to increase ICT skills. The room is a year 7 class so the students can continue with their
knowledge through to year 8. It is a pilot scheme.
Pupils have been taught to use the following: Fire Fox, Sea Monkey, Pages and Appleworks6. The students are in the process of learning how to use iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Garageband, Keynote, Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Entourage.
The models that are used can no longer be bought, although there are newer versions on shelves. These were designed for School children’s education, at a cheap price of around $1800-$1900.
Danelle Cox of Room 23 said “The computer classroom has gone very well, and been a great educational experience”.
“I think it has worked well with getting work finished and published.” Quoted Tegan Hunter, another pupil of this lucky classroom.
On the computers students in Room 23 have a home directory where they can save their PC work.
