Orienteering



The school orienteering squad have recently competed at the zone and inter-zone competitions. We were very fortune to have three teachers support the squad this year: Mr Walley, Ms Guise and Mrs Pearson. We also had invaluable support from Val Robinson and Julie Simmonds.
The results from this season are as follows:
Orienteering
Fifty students competed at the Counties Manukau Zone competition at Totara Park in Manurewa. This was the largest squad entered from our school. We were very competitive at this event with all teams placed. All Pukekohe Intermediate students were placed first or second on their course.
Year 7 Girls A team 1st place B team 2nd place
Year 7 Boys A team 1st place B team 3rd place
Year 8 Girls A team 2nd place B team 3rd place
Year 8 Boys A team 1st place B team 3rd place
A squad of 48 students travelled to the Auckland Inter-zone Orienteering Championships at Moire Park, Massey in Waitakere City. Pukekohe Intermediate had the largest number of teams to qualify for this competition in the wider-Auckland area.
Year 7 Boys Overall Placing: Year 7 A team 2nd
Course 3- Hamish Simmonds 1st, Brodie Cathcart 2
Course 5- Alex Norvill 2nd
Course 6- Ben Cullinane 2nd

Year 7 Girls Overall Placing: Year 7 A team 3rd and Year 7 B team 4th place
Course 1- Leone Humber 2nd
Course 4- Judy Fong 1st
Course 5- Laura Drummond 1st

Year 8 Boys Course 4- Ben Couper 3rd
Year 8 Girls Course 6- Sarah Foster 3rd
A special thank you to the families who were able to assist with transport and support us at the Counties Manukau Zone and Auckland Inter-Zone competitions.
