Room 23 have been researching the Maui's Dolphins for a Term now and we have become very interested in them. The reasons that we chose this particular animal is because they are only found in New Zealand, they are critically endangered and there are approximately 111 Maui's Dolphins left. We have made mini-projects on the Maui's dolphins and they are displayed on the wall in our classroom, we have sent emails to government to persuade them to 'Take Action' and help save the Maui's Dolphins. We are making one dollar donations to adopt a dolphin we get to give it a name and that dolphin will keep that name for a year.
At the moment we are planning our Maui's Dolphins Mural which we are going to place on a brick wall in the school to show the public how they can help save the Maui's Dolphins. The message that we are trying to spread that we will put on this Mural is to band set nets. We are sending out sponsorship letters so we can get the supplies to make this Mural.
We will start making the Maui's Dolphin mural in the first term of 2009.
